EAST LANSING, Mich. - The Michigan State men's golf team wraps up the fall portion of its schedule next week, as it travels to the Georgetown Intercollegiate. The 54-hole tournament, which is being held at The Members Club at Four Streams (par-71, 7,102-yards) in Beallsville, Md., features 36 holes on Monday and 18 holes on Tuesday. Both days will begin with 8 a.m. ET shotgun starts.
"We are looking forward to visiting the Nation's Capital this week for our last event of the fall," said MSU head coach Casey Lubahn. "The Members Club at Four Streams is a wonderful golf course that feels like Northern Michigan. Our guys should be very comfortable as we will be familiar with the conditions and are used to seeing golf courses like it.
"It is important for us to fight hard to save every shot and enter our off-season with momentum. Our players have competed hard in qualifying and I expect us to be sharp when we step on the first tee Monday morning."
The field this week features Campbell, DePaul, Georgetown, Miami (Ohio), Michigan State, Navy, Northern Illinois, St. Joseph's, Towson, West Florida, William & Mary and Xavier.
It has been a progressive fall season so far for the Spartans under first-year head coach Casey Lubahn. MSU has three top-5 finishes in four events, including placing second at the Fossum Invitational and third at the Wolverine Invitational. The Spartans have topped each of the Big Ten schools it squared up against.
The Spartan lineup includes seniors Dan Ellis and Chris Mory, juniors Will Morris and Matthew Moseley, and freshman McCormick Clouser. Sophomore Carson Castellani is playing as an individual this week.
Michigan State has had eight top-10 individual finishes this season, led by three from Ellis and two from Mory. Ellis, who leads the Spartans with a 72.5 scoring average, has three top-5 showings, including a career-best third-place finish at the Fossum, and has been in the top-15 in all four events. Mory is second on the team with a 73.6 average, and is tied with Moseley for second on the team with three top-20 showings.
