
Natalie Brehm Wins Michigan Women's Amateur

ST. CLAIR, Mich. - Michigan State women's golfer Natalie Brehm defeated incoming Spartan freshman Christine Meier in the final round of match play, 4 & 3, to claim the 94th annual Michigan Women's Amateur on Friday at St. Clair Country Club.
Brehm, who finished runner-up in the event in 2009, advanced to the finals earlier in the day by defeating Lindsey Lammers, 1 up, in the semifinals. Christine defeated her sister, Amy, in the other semifinal match, 1 up, to reach the final.
The Michigan Women's Amateur format features the top 32 players from 36 holes of stroke play advancing to the match play bracket. After tying for second in stroke play, Brehm defeated Kelly Hartigan in the first round of match play, 3 & 1, Alainna Stefan in the second round, 2 & 1, and Meagan Bauer in the quarterfinals, 2 & 1, before topping Lammers in the semifinals.
