Jack Newman Selected to NCAA Notre Dame Regional

EAST LANSING, Mich. - The NCAA announced on Monday that Michigan State men's golf senior Jack Newman will represent MSU as an individual at the 2010 NCAA Division I Notre Dame Regional. The regional will be held May 20-22 at Warren Golf Club in South Bend, Ind.
Newman will face 14 teams and four other individuals who qualified for the Notre Dame Regional, in an attempt to qualify for the NCAA Championships. The top-five teams and the low individual not on those teams, from each of the six regionals, will move on to The Honors Course in Chattanooga, Tenn. on June 1-6.
It will be Newman's fourth appearance in an NCAA Regional, having tied for 28th last year, 29th in 2008 and 39th in 2007.
A Second Team All-Big Ten selection for the third consecutive season, Newman has led the Spartans all season, posting team-bests in scoring average (72.42) and birdies (97). His season stroke average is currently second on the MSU single-season scoring list. In the team's 10 stroke play tournaments this season, Newman posted eight top-15 finishes, including two top-5 showings.
For his career, the Des Moines, Iowa, native, is third all-time at MSU with a 73.72 scoring average. Also, Newman has 10 top-5 finishes and 17 top-10 placements.
