Women's Golf in Second Place at Gator Invitational

GAINESVILLE, Fla. - The No. 15 Michigan State women's golf team is in second place after two rounds of the Gator Invitational on Saturday, just three shots behind leader Florida State. The Spartans shot a team score of 294 to lead after the first round, and compiled a 286 in the second round to stand at 580 (+20) for the day.
Senior Laura Kueny tied a school record with a 68 in the second round and is currently in first place overall with a 1-over 141 (73-68). She leads by one stroke over Florida State's Jessica Negron and Florida's Mia Piccio. The round of 68 has been accomplished four other times in school history, most recently this past September by Aimee Neff at the Lady Northern Invitational.
Two other Spartans are in the top 10, as Caroline Powers and Aimee Neff are each tied for eighth with a 5-over 145. Powers shot a 74 in the first round, but improved by three shots in the second round to finish with a 71. Neff had a 72 in the first round and a 73 in the second.
Shannon Warner rounded out the team's scoring with a 149 (75-74). Warner is in a tie for 23rd place.
Lindsey Solberg carded a 157 (79-78), while Natalie Brehm shot a 154 (75-79) playing as an individual.
