PINEHURST, N.C. - The Michigan State men's golf team wrapped up the second round of the Pinehurst Invitational on Saturday at The Centennial Pinehurst No. 8, sitting in seventh place with a combined score of 19-over par 595 (292-303). Sophomore Chris Mory paced the Spartans, currently in a tie for sixth at one-over par 145 (73-72).
Mory is four shots off the lead of Virginia Tech's Mikey Moyers, who posted a 36-hole score of three-under par 141. Mory has totaled seven birdies through the first two days, including four in today's round.
Senior Jack Newman is tied for 26th at five-over par 149 (71-78), followed by freshman Matthew Moseley, who is tied for 35th at seven-over par 151 (74-77). Freshman James Ross is tied for 47th through two rounds at 10-over 154 (74-80) and sophomore Dan Ellis is tied for 79th at 17-over 161 (85-76).
Penn State holds the team lead at four-over par 580, two shots ahead of Virginia Tech.
Sunday's final round begins with a 9 a.m. ET shotgun start.
