
Women's Tennis Drops Match to Syracuse, 5-2

EAST LANSING, Mich. - The Michigan State women' tennis team fell to Syracuse, 5-2, Sunday, Feb. 7, at the MSU Indoor Tennis Facility.
The Spartans had a promising start in doubles action winning two of the three doubles contests. Junior Manon Noe (Liancourt, France) teamed with freshman Nicole Herzog (Manillia, Brazil) to defeat Emily Harmon and Christina Tan in dominating fashion, 8-3, at the No. 1 spot. At the No. 2 position, freshman Michaela Silesova (Topolcany, Slavakia) and sophomore Elena Ivanova (Moscow, Russia) outlasted Chelsea Jones and CC Sardinha, 9-7.
Freshman Amy Barton (Brisbane, Australia) earned the lone win in singles action for the Spartans. The last match to conclude ended in Barton's favor over Tan, 5-7, 6-3, 12-10. Ivanova battled at the No. 6 position, but fell in a three-set match to Simone Kalhorn, 3-6, 6-4, 10-5.
The Spartans next host Toledo and Bowling Green on Saturday, Feb. 13, at 10 a.m. and 3 p.m., respectively at the MSU Indoor Tennis Facility.
