EAST LANSING, Mich. -
The women's tennis team wrapped up the second day at the Spartan Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 26, at the MSU Outdoor Tennis Courts. Michigan State picked up three wins throughout the day. Leading the Spartans with a win in both doubles and singles was junior Whitney Wilson (Evansville, Ind.).
Freshman Amy Barton (Brisbane, Australia) teamed with Wilson to defeat Recht and Brien of IPFW in a tough doubles match, 9-8(5). Sophomore Elena Ivanova (Moscow, Russia) and senior Christine Milliken (Traverse City, Mich.) also earned a win in doubles action, topping Raatz and Dzakula of Evansville in the Green Draw, 8-4.
Wilson posted the only win in singles play for MSU, defeating Flankova of Detroit, 6-2, 6-1, in the White Draw.
The final rounds of both singles and doubles action are slated to begin tomorrow, Sunday, Sept. 26, at 9 a.m. at the MSU Outdoor Tennis Courts.
