EAST LANSING, Mich. - The undefeated Michigan State women's soccer team will hit the road this weekend for a pair of games against MAC opponents. MSU will take on Kent State on Friday (Sept. 18) at 4 p.m. and will visit Eastern Michigan on Sunday (Sept. 20) at 1 p.m.
The Spartans are coming off a 3-1 win over Detroit on Tuesday where they set the school record for longest home unbeaten streak at 16 games. The 5-0-1 Spartans are unbeaten at home this season after going 9-0-2 at DeMartin Stadium a year ago.
As expected, the high-powered Spartan offense is off to a fast start this season - outscoring opponents by a count of 17-2 in the first six games. Leading the offense has been senior Lauren Hill, who has at least one goal in each game of the season. Her eight goals and 18 points lead the Big Ten. Fellow forward Laura Heyboer is fourth in the conference with 11 points.
Goalkeeper Jill Flietstra has been near perfect in net so far this season, allowing just two goals in 553:28 of action. Her 0.33 goals-against average and 0.895 save percentage both lead the Big Ten.
