
Allison Fouch Wins Michigan Women's Open

THOMPSONVILLE, Mich. - Former Spartan and current LPGA golfer Allison Fouch edged current Spartan Laura Kueny by one stroke to win the 2009 Michigan Women's Open Wednesday afternoon at Crystal Mountain Resort.
Kueny led or was tied for the lead the entire tournament up until the final hole, when Fouch birdied the par-5 18th. Fouch birdied two of her final four holes to finish at 2-under 70 for the round and 208 (70-68-70) for the tournament. Kueny closed with a 7-under 209 (66-71-72).
Former Spartan Stacy (Snider) Olson tied for 15th with a 6-over 222.

In other women's golf news, rising junior Aimee Neff won her first-round match at the U.S. Women's Amateur in St. Louis Wednesday afternoon. Neff made the 64-player cut after tying for 28th in two rounds of stroke play. The Carmel, Ind., native defeated Sally Watson of Scotland, 2 & 1.
