
Goran Suton Drafted By Utah Jazz

EAST LANSING, Mich. - Michigan State center Goran Suton was selected by the Utah Jazz in the second round (50th pick overall) of the 2009 NBA Draft at Madison Square Garden in New York. Suton becomes the 12th Spartan drafted to play for Coach Tom Izzo and the 11th player selected since the 2000 NBA Draft.
Suton concluded his Spartan career averaging 10.4 points and 8.4 rebounds as a senior, earning second-team All-Big Ten honors and leading the Big Ten in rebounding. He elevated his play during Michigan State's run to the National Championship game, averaging 13.0 points and 10.7 rebounds during the NCAA Tournament. He was named Most Outstanding Player of the NCAA Tournament Midwest Regional, averaging 19.5 points and 9.5 rebounds in games against Kansas and Louisville. He also earned a spot on the Final Four All-Tournament Team. On the season, he led MSU with eight double-doubles and scored in double figures in 18 games and grabbed double-figure rebounds in 12 contests.
For his career, Suton averaged 8.1 points and 6.6 rebounds, starting 91 of the 134 games in which he appeared. He ranks sixth in MSU history with 887 career rebounds.
