Michigan State will be making its seventh appearance in the Final Four in school history (1957, 1979, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2005, 2009).
Coach Izzo has now led Michigan State to five Final Fours during his tenure, tying for third most among active coaches (Mike Krzyzewski, Duke: 10; Roy Williams, North Carolina: 7; Rick Pitino, Louisville: 5).
Michigan State has advanced to the Final Four five times in the past 11 years, the most of any school in the nation during that span.
Izzo is now 5-1 all-time in the Elite Eight...he also won his 30th overall NCAA Tournament game and improved his winning percentage to .750 in the tournament (30-10).
MSU improves to 7-0 all-time in NCAA Tournament games played in Indianapolis; this marks the second time MSU has won a regional in Indianapolis (1979).
The win over top-seeded Louisville was MSU's third all-time over a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament (1979 vs. Indiana State, National Championship game; 2005 vs. Duke, Austin Regional Semifinal).
Goran Suton scored 17 of his 19 points in the first half...he was 7-of-10 shooting in the first half, including 3-for-3 from 3-point range...the three 3-pointers were a career high...Suton was named the Most Outstanding Player of the Midwest Regional...Suton averaged 19.5 points and 9.5 rebounds in the two games in Indianapolis...thus far in the tournament, Suton is averaging 14.3 points and 11.5 rebounds...Suton recorded his second double-double of the tournament (19 points, 10 rebounds) and his seventh of the season...it was also his 20th career double-double (MSU record: 16-4).
Kalin Lucas was named to the All-Midwest Regional Team...Lucas is averaging 12.8 points per game and 5.5 assists per game in the tournament...he scored 10 points against Louisville and dished out five assists.
Travis Walton was also named to the All-Midwest Regional Team...Walton scored eight points and held First-Team All-BIG EAST selection Terrence Williams to five points on 1-of-7 shooting.
Durrell Summers scored an NCAA Tournament career-high 12 points, including two 3-pointers...with MSU leading 39-36, Summers scored seven straight points to put MSU up, 46-37...the first basket during that stretch was a fast-break dunk past Louisville's Terrence Williams at the 12:50 mark in the second half.
Draymond Green collected 10 rebounds, marking the second time he has posted double-figures in rebounding this season (season high: 12 vs. Indiana on Feb. 7).
Michigan State hit eight 3-pointers, its best shooting effort from beyond-the-arc since netting eight at Ohio State on Jan. 25...MSU's season high is 11 3-pointers, which arrived in the season opener vs. Idaho.
The Spartans out-rebounded Louisville, 37-29...MSU is 27-5 this season when out-rebounding its opponent.
Louisville never led by more than three points in the game and held its last lead at the 15:34 mark in the second half (34-32)...following Earl Clark's basket that gave the Cardinals the lead at 34-32, MSU went on a 14-3 run over the next five minutes to take a 46-37 lead...the Spartans led by as many as 17 points late in the second half (64-47 at 2:48 mark).
Louisville did not have a fast-break point the entire game.
Louisville was held to 52 points, its second-lowest offensive output of the season (51 points vs. UConn in 68-51 loss at home on Feb. 2).
