Michigan State's NCAA Tournament History in PDF Format ![]()
Friday's meeting between Michigan State and Robert Morris will mark the first-ever meeting between the two schools.
This marks the second time in school history MSU has earned a No. 2 seed - the other arrived in 1979, when the program claimed its first National Championship. The No. 2 seed is the highest for Michigan State since 2001, when MSU was a No. 1 and advanced to the Final Four.
Michigan State's streak of 12 consecutive appearances in the NCAA Tournament is the longest current streak among active Big Ten schools and is now the fourth longest in the nation. Only Arizona (25), Kansas (20) and Duke (14) have longer current streaks.
MSU will be making its 23rd appearance in the NCAA Tournament with a record 43-21 in its previous 22 tournaments. The Spartans have made six trips to the Final Four (1957, 1979, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2005) and captured the NCAA Championship in 1979 and 2000.
Tickets to the first and second round games in Minneapolis are not available through Michigan State's allotment, but are available for purchase through gophersports.com.
