Indiana vs. Michigan State
February 7, 2009
Post-Game Notes
Freshman Draymond Green scored a career-high 15 points (5-5 FGs, 5-5 FTs) and picked up 12 rebounds - both career highs. It is the first double-double of his career and ninth by a Spartan this season.
With 16 points today, sophomore Chris Allen has now scored in double figures in three consecutive games.
In the last two games, Michigan State has held its opponents to 29.8 percent shooting. Minnesota shot a season low 28.8 percent while Indiana was limited to 31 percent. The 13 field goals by Indiana are a season-low for a Spartan opponent this season and the fewest by an opponent since Iowa had 11 on Jan. 12, 2008.
For the second consecutive game and second time this season, the Spartans held their opponent at or below 30 percent shooting from the floor in the first half. MSU held Minnesota to 17.4 percent shooting in the first half earlier this week and held the Hoosiers to 30 percent shooting in the first half today.
Today marked the first time since a 78-73 win at Penn State (Jan. 14) that MSU had four players - Allen (16 points), Green (15 points), Goran Suton (12 points) and Kalin Lucas (10 points) - in double figures.
MSU's 42 total points off the bench are the most since the bench combined to score 66 in a 118-60 win over Alcorn State (Dec. 13, 2008).
The Spartans forced 21 IU turnovers today which is the second most this season. Idaho turned the ball over 22 times against the Spartans in the first game of the season.
Michigan State is now 44-64 against Indiana all-time. Tom Izzo is now 14-10 against the Hoosiers and 2-0 against his former assistant, Tom Crean.
MSU is now 15-0 when scoring 70 or more points this season and 17-0 when allowing fewer than 70 points.
