EAST LANSING, Mich. - MSU men's basketball freshman Delvon Roe was named Big Ten Co-Player of the Week it was announced on Monday (Feb. 16). Roe shared the award with Wisconsin's Joe Krabbenhoft.
Roe garners his first weekly award on the heels of his first career double-double, posting 14 points and 10 rebounds while aiding the Spartans to a 54-42 win over in-state rival Michigan last week. The 14 points marked a career high for the freshman forward while it was his third double-figure rebounding effort of the season. Playing for the fifth time in less than two weeks, Roe scored 11 of his 14 points in the first half and finished one short of his career best performance on the glass. His 11 points before intermission surpassed his previous best in a Big Ten game and were just two short of his previous career high. Overall, the Euclid, Ohio, native went 5-of-7 from the field and 4-of-6 from the free-throw line in a season-high 28 minutes.
Roe is the third Spartan to win the award this season as Raymar Morgan (Jan. 5) and Kalin Lucas (Jan. 12) each garned the award in January.
