Men's Golf Moves Into Big Ten Match Play Semifinals

EAST LANSING, Mich. - The Michigan State men's golf team beat Wisconsin, 3.5-2.5, on Friday afternoon in the quarterfinals of the inaugural Big Ten Match Play Championship at Heron Bay Golf Club in Coral Springs, Fla. The Spartans will face Indiana tomorrow morning in the semifinals, and Illinois and Michigan will square off in the other semifinal match.
Junior Jack Newman and senior Jordan Ensrud picked up wins for Michigan State, while sophomores Graham Baillargeon and Payne Gniewek, and junior Andrew Ladwig halfed their matches. Newman held on to beat Wisconsin's Dan Woltman, 1-up in the No. 1 position and Ensrud cruised to a 4&2 win over Jordan Elsen.
Tomorrow's play begins at 7 a.m.
