
No. 1 Northwestern Takes Out Spartans, 7-0

EVANSTON, Ill. - The Michigan State women's tennis team fell to No. 1 Northwestern, 7-0, on Saturday afternoon at the Vandy Christie Tennis Center. The Spartans struggled from the start as they were swept by the Wildcats in doubles. Northwestern stayed strong entering singles play, taking out MSU at all six positions.
The Wildcats looked dominating allowing the Spartans only two games in the doubles flights. At No. 1, Christine Bader and Stephanie Kebler fell to NU's Suzie Matzenauer and Samantha Murray, 8-0, while Kathryn Bonnen and Ally Wickman were blanked by Georgia Rose and Nazlie Ghazal, 8-0, at No. 3. Christine Milliken and Ana Milosavljevic put up a fight at No. 2, but eventually lost to Keri Robison and Maria Mosolova, 8-2.
Northwestern came out tough in singles as well, taking all six matches. Milosavljevic gave a strong effort at No. 3 for the Spartans, taking four games off of Murray in the first set, but was overpowered in the second frame, losing the match, 6-4, 6-0.
The Spartans travel to Madison, Wis., tomorrow for their last regular-season matchup, taking on the Badgers at 12 p.m CT.
