Sara Brown Leads Lady Buckeye Invitational After Two Rounds

EAST LANSING, Mich. - Senior Sara Brown continues to play like one of the top collegiate women's golfers in the country, leading the 2008 Lady Buckeye Invitational after Saturday's first two rounds on the Scarlet Course at The Ohio State University Golf Club. Menawhile, the Michigan State women's golf team finished play today in fourth place at 37-over pat 613 (303-310).
Brown opened with a two-under 70 and followed up with a one-over 73, to hold a one stroke lead with a one-under 143. She posted seven birdies on the day, including five in her first round. The MSU senior holds a one stroke lead over Ohio State's Carling Coffing, who posted rounds of five-under 67 and five-over 77.
Sophomore Laura Kueny is alone in 12th at nine-over 153, after rounds of five-over 77 and four-over 76. Kueny has had great success on the par 5 fourth hole, posting an eagle in the first round and a birdie in the second.
Also competing this weekend for the Spartans, was freshman Michelle Bowles, who is tied for 27th at 15-over 159 (77-82) and freshman Aimee Neff, who is tied for 39th at 18-over 162 (79-83). Senior Jordyn Wells (84-80) and junior Holly Niederkohr (83-81) are among a group tied at 47th at 20-over 164.
Kent State leads the tournament at 17-over 593 (294-299), 10 strokes better than the host Buckeyes, who is at 27-over 603 (300-303). Northwestern is third with a 31-over par 607 (304-303).
The tournament will conclude with 18 holes on Sunday, beginning with a 8:30 a.m. ET shotgun start.
