TEAM NOTES
-- Michigan State is now 14-0 at home this season. The Spartans have won 18 straight games at the Breslin Center. MSU is also 32-1 at home over the past two seasons, with the only loss coming to Ohio State on Feb. 3, 2007.
-- Michigan State committed just 10 turnovers against Northwestern, the team's second consecutive game with just 10 miscues. It was the fourth time this season the Spartans have committed 10 turnovers or less.
-- This is the earliest MSU has reached 20 wins in a season since the 1998-99 season, when the team won its 20th game on Feb. 6 against Iowa. The 1998-99 Spartans lost four games before garnering their 20th victory.
-- MSU has now compiled nine 20-win seasons in Coach Izzo's 13-year head coaching tenure.
-- Michigan State shot 51.9 percent from the field, marking the 11th time the Spartans have shot over 50 percent. MSU is 10-1 when shooting at least 50 percent from the field.
-- The Spartans, who have recorded assists on 69 percent of their field goals this season, notched 18 assists on 27 field goals (66.7 percent).
PLAYER NOTES
-- Senior guard Drew Neitzel scored a team-high 21 points on 8-of-12 shooting. Neitzel now has 20 career 20-point games, with MSU recording a 14-6 record in those games. Neitzel, who made four 3-pointers, also had four assists and two steals.
-- Neitzel attempted his first shot at the 7:25 mark in the first half, knocking down a 3-pointer that pulled MSU within 18-17. That would begin a 13-point burst for the senior guard over a span of 3:35. He shot 3-of-3 from beyond the arc, made a lay-up and hit a mid-range jumper in that short time period.
-- Senior center Drew Naymick blocked a career-high six shots, extending his own school career blocks record to 115.
-- Naymick also enjoyed one of his finest offensive games as a Spartan, scoring 10 points on 3-of-4 shooting from the field and 4-of-5 shooting at the line. It was the third double-figure scoring performance of his career (116 games) and his second such effort this season. He scored 11 points against Ohio State on Jan. 12.
-- Sophomore forward Raymar Morgan scored 10 points, his fifth consecutive double-figure scoring outing and 21st this season.
