EAST LANSING, Mich. - The Michigan State women's tennis team will travel to Evanston, Ill., for the Northwestern Wildcat Invitational from Oct. 10-12. The event will serve as the team's final tune up before they conclude the fall slate at the ITA Regional later this month. Competition will begin all three days at 9 a.m., at the Vandy Christie Tennis Center. The tournament will feature four flights of singles competition, followed by two flights of doubles play.
The Spartans will be joined by host-school, Northwestern and a field of Division I opponents. Joining MSU and Northwestern will be teams from DePaul, Illinois, LSU, Minnesota, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, South Carolina and Wisconsin.
Senior Stephanie Kebler (Okemos, Mich.) will open singles-play for the Spartans in Flight A. Kebler, playing in the team's No. 1 spot, will square off against Nazlie Ghazal of Northwestern. Sophomore Manon Noe (Liancourt, France) will look to rebound from a 1-2 performance at the Spartan Invitational as she will take on Katie Potts of Notre Dame in her first matchup of the day in Flight B as the No. 2 player this weekend.
Also competing in Flight B for the Spartans will be sophomore Lindsey Lonergan (Cincinnati, Ohio) will battle Kali Krisik of Notre Dame in Flight B in the Spartans No. 3 spot.
In Flight C, freshman Dana Guentert (Lilburn, Ga.) will face Selma Salkovic of DePaul University, while freshman Elena Ivanova (Moscow, Russia) will compete against Emese Kardhordo of Wisconsin.
Flight D will see sophomore Whitney Wilson (Evansville, Ind.) take on Annie McCarthy of Illinois and senior Ana Milosavljevic (Johannesburg, South Africa) face Big Ten foe Angela Chupa of Wisconsin.
Noe and Wilson will represent the Spartans in Flight A of doubles competition, taking on Elizabeth Carpenter and Aleksandra Markovic of Wisconsin.
Guentert and Milosavljevic will also pair together in the first flight of doubles action. Guentert and Milosavljevic will clash with Kali Krisik and Shannon Matthews of Notre Dame as MSU will continue Flight A doubles action.
Kebler and Lonergan will face Suzanna Mansour and Ashley Miller from South Carolina in Flight B of doubles action while Ivanova sophomore Ally Wickman (Grand Rapids, Mich.) will take on Brittany Baldy and Kristin Gray of Oklahoma.
