
Women's Tennis Plays Host to ITA Midwest Regionals

EAST LANSING, Mich. - The Michigan State women's tennis team has qualified seven student-athletes for the ITA Midwest Regional Championships this weekend at the Michigan State Indoor Facility. The seven qualifiers mark the most to compete at an ITA Regional in MSU women's tennis history. Two Spartans, senior Stephanie Kebler (Okemos, Mich.) and sophomore Manon Noe (Liancort, France), qualified for the main draw. The tournament will begin on Oct. 23 and run through Oct. 28 with play beginning at 9 a.m. each day.
Also representing the Spartans in the singles qualifying draw will be freshman Dana Guentert (Lilburn, Ga.), sophomore Lindsey Lonergan (Cincinnati, Ohio), freshman Elena Ivanova (Moscow, Russia), sophomore Whitney Wilson (Evansville, Ind.) and senior Ana Milosavljevic (Johannesburg, South Africa).
Qualifying in the doubles draw are partners Noe and Wilson, Guentert and Milosavljevic and Kebler and Lonergan.
The ITA Midwest Regional consists of a singles qualifying draw, a singles main draw and a doubles main draw. Those representatives who finish in the top-eight will proceed on from the qualifying draw, Thursday and Friday, onto the main draw beginning on Saturday.
Other teams with representatives include; Akron, Bowling Green, Bradley, Butler, Chicago State, Cleveland State, DePaul, Detroit Mercy, Drake, Eastern Illinois, Eastern Michigan, Evansville, Illinois, Illinois-Chicago, Indiana State, Iowa, IPFW, Marquette, Miami, Michigan, Minnesota, Northern Illinois, Northwestern, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Purdue, Southern Illinois, Toledo, Western Illinois, Western Michigan, Wisconsin, Xavier and Youngstown State.
