
Sinacola Named Big Ten Co-Offensive Player of the Week

Interview with Lauren Sinacola
EAST LANSING, Mich. - Sophomore Lauren Sinacola has been named the Big Ten Co-Offensive Player of the Week, the league office announced Monday. The honor is her first career weekly award from the conference office.
Sinacola captures the honor after scoring both of Michigan State's goals in a 2-1 win over Syracuse on Sunday. The Rochester, Mich., native scored MSU's first goal of the season off a free kick just 2:23 into the match and then added another tally at the 24:38 mark to put the Spartans up 2-0. For the week, Sinacola totaled five shots, including three on goal, to help MSU to a weekend split. The Spartans dropped a 1-0 overtime decision to BYU in the season-opener on Friday.

Sinacola was second on the team with 13 points (5g, 3a) last year and was named to the Big Ten All-Freshman Team. She also captured Great Lakes Region All-Freshman Team honors from Soccer Buzz Magazine.
The last MSU women's soccer player to win player of the week honors was current sophomore Lauren Hill, who was named Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week on Sept. 2 of last year.
Sinacola shares the offensive honor with Ella Masar of Illinois. Michigan's Madison Gates was named the conference's defensive player of the week.
The Spartans (1-1) travel to Pennsylvania this weekend for contests against Penn and Lehigh. MSU takes on Penn on Friday, Sept. 7 at 7 p.m. in Philadelphia and Lehigh on Sunday, Sept. 9 at 1 p.m. in Bethlehem, Pa.
