
Neitzel Earns NABC All-District Honors

EAST LANSING, Mich. - Michigan State junior guard Drew Neitzel was named First-Team All-District 11 by the National Association of Basketball Coaches. He is joined on the first team by Wisconsin's Alando Tucker, Marquette's Dominique James, Southern Illinois' Jamaal Tatum and Loyola Chicago's Blake Schilb. Ten players from 15 districts were honored by the NABC and are now eligible for the All-America teams to be announced at the conclusion of the regular season.
Neitzel leads Michigan State in scoring at 18.2 points per game, ranking fourth in the Big Ten in scoring, while leading the conference in free-throw percentage (.889) and 3-point field goals made (3.17 pg). He also ranks among the conference leaders in minutes played (2nd, 35.10), assists (t-5th, 4.17 apg), assist-to-turnover ratio (6th, 1.71) and 3-point field-goal percentage (9th, .413). In conference games, Neitzel ranks third in the league in scoring (18.0 ppg). His 95 3-pointers rank tied for the second-greatest single-season total in MSU history. He has been selected the Big Ten Player of the Week three times (Nov. 20, Nov. 27, Feb. 24) and was named National Player of the Week by ESPN.com's Andy Katz on Feb. 24.
Southern Illinois' Randal Falker, DePaul's Wilson Chandler, Wisconsin's Kammron Taylor, Marquette's Jerel McNeill and Illinois' Warren Carter make up the District 11 Second Team.
