
Cincinnati Defeats No. 18 MSU Men's Soccer, 2-0

CINCINNATI, Ohio - Cincinnati's Noah Davidson and Kenny Anaba each scored a goal to lead the Bearcats to a 2-0 win over the Michigan State men's soccer team Wednesday afternoon at Gettler Stadium. The loss, MSU's second straight setback, sends the 18th-ranked Spartans to 11-3-3, while Cincinnati improves to 7-9-1.
The match was physical throughout, with Cincinnati collecting 21 fouls and four yellow cards. MSU committed seven fouls and was issued one yellow card. Yet, it was the Bearcats that got a penalty kick in the 42nd minute, and Davidson put the PK into the net to give UC the lead just before intermission. The Spartans would yield another tally at 56:16, as Anaba fired a pass from Patrick Baxter just inside the far post.
Senior Chris Austin stopped eight shots in the loss, while Cincinnati goalkeeper Miguel Rosales made seven saves to get the shutout. Cincinnati had a 17-14 advantage in shots, led by Davidson and Anaba with five tries each. Juniors Doug DeMartin and David Hertel each attempted three shots to lead Michigan State.
Michigan State concludes the regular season against No. 23 Ohio State on Sunday, Nov. 4 at 1 p.m. at Old College Field. The Spartans will host the Big Ten Men's Soccer Championship Nov. 8-11.
