Women's Golf Jumps To Eighth At Mercedes Benz

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - Michigan State women's golf jumped five spots after day two at the Mercedes Benz Collegiate Championships, hosted by the University of Tennessee at the Cherokee Country Club (5932 yards. The Spartans shot a 301, nine strokes higher than their day one score (292), for a two-day total of 593, good for a three-way tie for eighth place. MSU sophomore Laura Kueny finished the second round tied for fourth, and leading the Spartans.
Kueny carded a 73 her second time through the course, and sits at even par with a 142 total (69-73). Next for MSU is Sara Brown; the senior shot six over par today which puts her at nine over par after 36 holes (74-77--151). Freshmen Aimee Neff finished day to in a six-way tie for 56th, totaling 152 strokes (75-77), while Michelle Bowles is tied for 62nd at 11 over par (74-79--153). Senior Jordyn Wells has a two-day total of 154 (80-74), and is tied for 71st.
Florida leads the tournament at nine over par, carding a 577 (289-288), and Alabama's Kathleen Ekey leads the individuals with a 138 (68-70).
