
Women's Golf Travels To Mercedes Benz Collegiate Championships

EAST LANSING, Mich. - The Michigan State's women's golf team heads to Knoxville, Tenn., for the 11th-annual Mercedes Benz Collegiate Championships hosted by the University of Tennessee Oct. 12-14. Seniors Sara Brown and Jordyn Wells, sophomore Laura Kueny and freshman Aimee Neff represent the Spartans in the three-day event held at the par-71 Cherokee Country Club (5932 yards).
Along with Michigan State and host University of Tennessee, Alabama, Arkansas, Auburn, Central Florida, Denver, Florida, Furman, Kent State, LSU, North Carolina, Ohio State, Purdue, SMU, and Virginia will participate in the tournament as well as the Swedish Jr. Nationals.
The Volunteers won last year's tournament, carding a three-day total 887, while Alabama's Jenny Suh shot the lowest individual score, a 214. The Spartans have participated in the championship since 2001; MSU's best performance was its sixth-place finish in 2005.
With action beginning as early as 9 a.m., the golfers will play 18 holes each day. MSU tees off at 10:20 a.m. Friday, playing through the back nine holes first.
