
Paul Davis Named Big Ten Player Of The Week

EAST LANSING, Mich. - Michigan State senior center Paul Davis was named Big Ten Player of the Week on Monday, March 6, after averaging 24.0 points and 11.5 rebounds against a pair of ranked opponents. Against No. 25 Wisconsin, Davis shot 9-of-12 from the field and 9-of-10 from the foul line, scoring a game-high 27 points and grabbing nine rebounds. On Senior Day against No. 10 Illinois, he recorded his 14th double-double of the season, which currently leads the Big Ten, with 21 points and a season-high tying 14 rebounds. For the week, he shot 62.5 percent from the field and 85.7 percent from the foul line, while adding three blocks and three steals.
This marked the third time this season that Davis earned the weekly league honor. On Jan. 16, he was recognized after averaging 20.5 points and 11.0 rebounds against Indiana and Ohio State, and on Nov. 28, he was honored after averaging 22.5 points and 12.3 rebounds in four games, including the Maui Invitational. Davis closes out his career with a total of six Big Ten Player of the Week honors, which ties for third most in league history. Ohio State's Jim Jackson and Purdue's Glenn Robinson each earned the award seven times. Davis joins Indiana's Steve Alford, Michigan State's Steve Smith, Indiana's Calbert Cheaney, Purdue's Brad Miller and Indiana's Bracey Wright as six-time honorees.
