MSU Coach Joanne P. McCallie:
Opening Statement...
"I thought there were some nice things in the game, some great play in the first half, aggressive play that set the tone defensively. I was really impressed with some of the rebounding efforts, particularly Maggie Dwyer from the guard position. In the second half we played a lot of players and had some foul trouble that will teach us. Overall tonight though, we just got better."
On Courtney Davidson... "I think Courtney Davidson was a big lift off the bench, her 12 minutes were very valuable. She played with a lot of confidence, took care of the basketball, created a lot for her teammates. Definitely would like to see that kind of aggression, especially with our guard situation with Victoria (Lucas-Perry) being out."
On Lindsay Bowen's start to the game... "I think that was so incredible of Lindsay to get her team off to that start. Incredible attacking and shooting, just an All-American kind of thing to do. Just attacking to really set the tempo for the game. I thought she was very impressive, and I thought Liz Shimek was very steady. We need to get Liz to the free throw line a few more times, I'm not pleased with that stat. I don't want to see Liz not attempting any free throws."
On the end of the game... "As coaches sometimes you want to slow it down and run out the clock a little, but I thought we really created some good shots. But credit the players for the way in which they came back out when Illinois started to get some shots down the stretch."
