Michigan State has its six-game winning streak against Minnesota snapped on Sunday. It was also the first win for the Gophers vs. MSU in Minneapolis since Feb. 27, 2000.
Coach McCallie is now 7-2 vs. Minnesota (4-1 in Minneapolis).
The two teams meet in East Lansing on Thursday, Feb. 9 at 8 p.m.
Aisha Jefferson scored a career-high 11 points on 4-of-5 shooting. She also collected five rebounds and a career-high three blocks.
MSU was outrebounded for just the third time this season (Maryland, LSU). The Gophers held a 44-37 advantage on the boards, including an 18-10 advantage on the offensive end.
Minnesota dished out 20 assists, which equaled the most MSU has given up this season (Wisconsin).
The Spartans held the Minnesota starters to 16 points, and held top scorer Jamie Broback scoreless for the first time this season. Minnesota received 55 points from its bench, however, the most for a Spartan opponent this season.
MSU equaled its season-low with just 12 turnovers, but forced a season-low eight.
