Nick Simmons To Compete In 2005 World University Games

EAST LANSING, Mich. - Michigan State junior wrestler Nick Simmons (Williamston, Mich.) will compete at the World University Games as a member of USA Wrestling. The men's freestyle competition will take place Aug. 13-14 in Izmir, Turkey. Simmons will be wrestling at 55 kilograms (121 pounds).
Joining Simmons on the seven-member freestyle squad are Iowa State's Nate Gallick (60 kg), Harvard's Jesse Jantzen (66 kg), Ohio State's Tommy Rowlands (96 kg), Oklahoma State's Tyrone Lewis (74 kg), Chris Pendleton (84 kg) and Steve Mocco (120 kg). The squad is coached by Bruce Burnett of Annapolis, Md., and Lou Rosselli of Edinboro, Pa.
This is the 23rd year for the World University Games. The event is similar to the Olympic Games, held only for University-level athletes.
