
Nathan Gunthorpe Ties For Sixth At GAM Championships

GROSSE POINTE FARMS, Mich. - Sophomore Nathan Gunthorpe (Ovid, Mich.) finished tied for sixth at the 2005 Golf Association of Michigan (GAM) Championship on Tuesday (Aug. 9). The 84th GAM Championship was played at the Country Club of Detroit in Grosse Pointe Farms, Mich.
Gunthorpe shot a three-round 217 (72-72-73), just six shots behind medalist Casey Baker. In addition to Gunthorpe, red-shirt freshman Grant Tungate (East Lansing, Mich.) finished tied for 21st with a 224 (74-75-75).
Three Spartans did not make the 36-hole cut following Monday's first round. Incoming freshmen Randy Hutchison (Traverse City, Mich.) and Steve Cuzzort (Grosse Ile, Mich.) both shot a 152 to miss the cut by two shots. Sophomore Brandon Cigna (Novi, Mich.) shot a 153 (74-79) and missed the cut by three shots.
