EAST LANSING, Mich. - Former Michigan State guard/forward Alan Anderson signed a free agent contract with the Charlotte Bobcats on Tuesday. Anderson played with the Bobcats during the 2005 Reebok Rocky Mountain Revue in Utah, averaging 7.7 points and 2.5 rebounds in 20.2 minutes over six games. His best game was a 16-point effort against Atlanta on July 22.
"I'm feeling great now, just feeling great," Anderson told BobcatsBasketball.com. "This is the place I'm supposed to be. It's a dream that I've always been waiting to fulfill. Now I'm ready to get out there on the floor in front of the fans, the lights and the cameras and do what I've been doing my whole life.
"Often times, you come from being the man on your college team to being a role player. I'm comfortable with that. I'm a rookie. I'm looking up to guys like Emeka Okafor right now. I'm watching guys like that and ready to learn from them so that when my chance comes, I'll be ready to take it."
As a senior at Michigan State, Anderson averaged 13.2 points, 5.5 rebounds and 1.6 assists, earning second-team All-Big Ten honors. He also helped lead the Spartans to the 2005 Final Four, where MSU fell to North Carolina, featuring Sean May and Raymond Felton, Charlotte's two first-round picks in the 2005 NBA Draft.
