The pairings for the 2005 EA SPORTS Maui Invitational (Nov. 21-23) were announced on Wednesday, July 13. Michigan State will open play against host-school Chaminade on Monday, Nov. 21 at 2:30 p.m. ET (9:30 a.m. in Hawaii) at the Lahaina Civic Center on ESPN2. The winner of the MSU-Chaminade game will advance to play the Gonzaga-Maryland winner. Other first-round games in the 22nd edition of the tournament include Arizona against Kansas and Arkansas against Connecticut.
ESPN, ESPN2 and ESPNU will combine to offer live coverage of all 12 contests, marking the first time every game of the event will be televised nationally. The 2005 EA SPORTS Maui Invitational features six former national champions (MSU, Arizona, Arkansas, Connecticut, Kansas, Maryland), five 2005 NCAA Tournament participants (MSU, Arizona, Connecticut, Gonzaga, Kansas) including Final Four participant Michigan State and Elite Eight participant Arizona.
