* Michigan State improved to 26-3, extending its school record for victories in a season.
* Michigan State advanced to the semifinals of the Big Ten Tournament for the second straight year. The Spartans have made four appearances in the semifinals but have never advanced to the Big Ten Tournament championship game.
* Michigan State has now won 10 consecutive games, which is the second-longest winning streak in school history. The longest streak is 11 games during the 1977 season.
* Michigan State now leads the all-time series with Illinois 26-24 and has won four straight in the series, including three this season.
* Michigan State is 3-0 this season and 5-0 in the past two seasons in overtime games. MSU has outscored its opponents 58-15 in its last five overtime periods.
* Michigan State was outrebounded 50-40. It was just the third time this season that MSU was outrebounded (vs. TCU, at Penn State) and the first time MSU won a game when outrebounded.
* MSU had just 12 turnovers to Illinois' 17. MSU has had fewer turnovers than its opponent in seven of the last eight games.
* MSU was led by Kelli Roehrig who had 15 points, 11 rebounds, two assists and two steals. It was the seventh double-double of the season for Roehrig, and the 12th of her career.
* Victoria Lucas-Perry had 14 points and six rebounds for MSU and hit 6-of-9 shots. It was the eighth double-figure scoring game of the season for Lucas-Perry.
* Kristin Haynie had 13 points, seven rebounds, three assists and two steals for MSU. Haynie is now tied for seventh in Big Ten history with 321 steals.
* Lindsay Bowen had 11 points and hit two 3-point baskets. She now has 205 career 3-pointers, which is 13 shy of the MSU career record.
