Harris Selected To All-Big Ten First Team

CHICAGO - Michigan State senior forward Emma Harris (Portage, Mich.) was selected to the All-Big Ten First Team on Wednesday, Nov. 2, league officials announced. Harris is the seventh Spartan selected to the all-conference first team and the first since Andrea Sied in 2003. Harris totaled 11 goals, 2 assists and 24 points in the 2005 regular season, notching career highs in goals and points. She added a goal and an assist in Thursday's 3-0 victory over Indiana in the Big Ten Tournament quarterfinals.

In four seasons at MSU Harris has netted 28-20-76 in 80 games for the Green and White. Six of her 11 regular-season goals came in conference action this season. She currently ranks seventh all-time in career goals, tied for third in assists and fourth in points as a Spartan. In 2002, Harris was named to the Big Ten All-Freshman Team.

Harris is joined on the all-conference team by forwards Tiffany Weimer (PSU), Melissa Dobbyn (UM) and Lauren Sessleman (PUR), midfielders Ali Kruger (PSU), Kristen Zmijewski (IU) and Kara Kabellis (UW) and defenders Christen Karninski (ILL), Lindsay Bach (PSU), Marisa Brown (UW) and Natalie Jacobs (PSU). Penn State goalkeeper and Minnesota goalkeeper Molly Schneider shared first team honors.

Harris is currently leading the Spartans in action at the Big Ten Tournament in Ann Arbor, Mich. A conference championship title will net Michigan State its second trip to the NCAA Tournament in program history. Regardless, the Green and White present a strong case for an at large bid. The NCAA selection show will air Monday afternoon at 4:00 p.m.

Senior defender Nina Mastracci (Troy, Mich.) was selected as Michigan State's sportsmanship honoree.
