
Former Spartans Enjoying Success As Professionals

EAST LANSING, Mich. - Three former Spartan stars are making their way up the ranks of the LPGA Tour. Emily Bastel (1998-2002) has earned exempt status on the LPGA tour by making $106,491.00 during the 2005 season. Allison Fouch (2000-2004) and Sarah Martin (2000-2004) both advanced to the final stage of LPGA Qualifying School by finishing in the top-30 at sectional qualifying in Venice, Fla. The finals will be Nov. 30-Dec. 4 at LPGA International in Daytova Beach, Fla.
Bastel was a four-time All-Big Ten selection while at Michigan State. In her senior season she was honored as Big Ten Golfer of Year and she was named second team All-America.
Fouch earned All-Big Ten recognition on three occasions while at MSU. She competed in the 2002 World University Games. In 2004, she was an All-America Honorable Mention.
Sarah Martin was second team All-Big Ten in 2004 and competed in the World University Games that same year. In 2003 she won the 87th Michigan Women's Amateur.
