EAST LANSING, Mich. - The Michigan State women's soccer team (7-2-1, 2-1-1 Big Ten) will open a two-game Big Ten homestand at Old College Field against No. 21 Ohio State (5-2-2, 1-0-2 Big Ten) this Friday (Oct. 1) at 4 p.m.
Last weekend, the Spartans played to a 1-1 tie at Iowa and posed a 1-0 shutout at Minnesota. Senior midfielder Adrienne Treado (Troy) scored the game-tying goal against the Hawkeyes, and assisted on junior forward Erin Konheim's (West Bloomfield) game-winning goal against the Golden Gophers.
The series between the Spartans and Buckeyes is tied at five games apiece, but MSU has won the last three games played at Old College Field. The Buckeyes won last season's meeting in Columbus, 1-0.
"Ohio State is an outstanding team and they will present us with our toughest challenge of the season so far," said MSU head coach Tom Saxton. "We view this as a great opportunity for our team to take a step to the next level."
Junior forward Emma Harris (Portage) currently leads Michigan State with four goals and 11 points on the season.
After the Ohio State game, the Spartans will entertain No. 5 Penn State at Old College Field on Sunday, Oct. 3 at Noon.
