Past and Present Golfers At Michigan PGA Women's Open

THOMPSONVILLE, Mich. - Several former and current members of the Michigan State women's golf team are competing at the 2004 Michigan PGA Women's Open at the Mountain Ridge course at Crystal Mountain Resort in Thompsonville, Mich.
Former Spartan Sue Ertl (1976-79) is the top Spartan, sitting in tied for 11th after shooting a 71 in Monday's opening round. Jackson's Elaine Crosby, who won the event 2001 and 2002, is the individual leader after shooting a course and tournament-record 66.
Stacy Snider (1999-2002) is tied for 13th with a 72. Former Spartan Joan Garety (1975-78), current MSU head coach Stacy Slobodnik-Stoll and junior Christy Jonkhoff (Traverse City, Mich.) sit in a six-way tie for 16th with a 73.
Sophomore Heather Rose (Chillicothe, Ohio) is tied for 27th with a 75, while junior Jennifer Johnson (Okemos, Mich.) is tied for 30th with a 76. Rounding out the line-up is red-shirt freshman Kristen Polanski (Livonia, Mich.), who is tied for 46th after recording an 80 on day one.
The second round will be played on Tuesday, July 27 and the final round is set for Wednesday, July 28.
