Cynetheia Rooks Wins Two Events At Hillsdale Relays

HILLSDALE, Mich. - Freshman Cynetheia Rooks won two events and set a meet record in the 400-meter dash as selected members of the Michigan State women's track team competed Saturday at the Hillsdale Relays.
Rooks won the 400 in a field of 50 runners with a time of 54.11, which was .88 seconds faster than the second-place competitor, and was the fourth-best outdoor time in MSU history. Rooks also had a season-best time of 24.14 to win the 200-meter dash, finishing a full four-tenths of a second ahead of the next best out of the 57 other runners.
Freshman Marquita Allen also competed in both the 200 and 400, placing eighth in the 400 (57.63) and 11th in the 200 (25.44). Junior Naomi Williams finished 13th in the 200 with a time of 25.59.
Also on the track, sophomore Shannon Radermacher was fourth in the 800 with a time of 2:11.05, while her twin sister Megan Radermacher was 27th in 2:21.59.
Freshman Sarah Stornant placed sixth in the 1500-meter run with a time of 4:39.83, while senior Cindy Durocher finished 11th in 4:45.12.
The top finisher in field events was sophomore Taren James, who placed third in the triple jump with a leap of 12.28m. Senior Shiloh Wint finished fifth in the pole vault with a height of 3.51m, and sophomore Carol Bontekoe was 15th in the discus with a toss of 38.99.
Michigan State will host the MSU Twilight meet Friday, April 30.
