Michigan State Game Notes
- Michigan State's win over Arizona was the Spartans' 22nd of the season. A win in the second round of the NCAA Tournament will tie them for the most wins in a season in program MSU history at 23, set in the 1976-77 season.
- The win in the first round was the team's first in the NCAA Tournament since MSU defeated Portland, 75-70 in overtime, in 1997.
- Liz Shimek racked up her sixth double-double (16 points, 13 rebounds) of the season and the tenth of her career. She also surpassed the 500 career rebound milestone.
- Junior center Kelli Roehrig ended the game with 10 points, allowing her to surpass the 850 career-points mileston. She enters Tuesday's game against Texas with 858 career points.
Arizona Game Notes
- With eight rebounds on the night, sophomore center Shawntinice Polk surpassed the Arizona single-season rebound record, which she set last season, of 335. She ended the season with 339 rebounds.
- With her appearance in tonight's game, senior guard Aimee Gryzb became theArizona career leader in games played with 123. She also tied her season high in steals - with three - for the third time this year.
- After the loss to Michigan State, the Wildcats ended their season with 24 wins, one win short of tying the program record of for victories(25) set by the 1990-00 squad.
