* Michigan State is now 9-1 for the second straight season and the third time in the last four years.
* MSU leads the all-time series 1-0 as this was the first-ever meeting between the two schools.
* Liz Shimek had a career-high 25 points and a season-best 15 rebounds to lead MSU. It was her third double-double of the season and 14th of her career.
* Shimek surpassed the 600-career rebound mark, and moved up two spots to 13th on MSU's career rebounds list with 609.
* Kristin Haynie finished with 14 points, seven rebounds, six assists and five steals in her first game back after missing the previous two games with an injured left thumb.
* Kelli Roehrig scored in double figures for the seventh consecutive game with 13 points and added eight rebounds.
* Michigan State outrebounded TAMU-CC, which was ranked third in the nation in rebound margin, 52-39. MSU had 27 offensive rebounds, and has now outrebounded nine of its 10 opponents this season.
* Michigan State was 0-for-7 from 3-point range. MSU had made at least one 3-pointer in 76 consecutive games since a 62-59 overtime loss at Penn State, Feb. 24, 2002. Lindsay Bowen did not make a 3-pointer for just the fifth game in her career.
* MSU's 62 points were its second fewest this season and only the second time this year the Spartans did not score at least 73 points. MSU had a season-low 56 points in a 56-54 victory vs. Utah Nov. 26 in Hawaii.
* MSU was 6-6 from the free throw line in the final two minutes, and is now 36-41 (87.8 percent) this season from the charity stripe in the final two minutes plus overtime of close games (margin in single digits).
* MSU had a 44-22 edge in points in the paint.
