* Michigan State now leads the series with Detroit 13-7. The Spartans have won the last eight meetings between the two schools.
* MSU is off to an 8-1 start for the second straight season and third time in the last four years.
* Michigan State is now 3-0 in road games this season. It marks the first time MSU has won its first three road games since the 1999-2000 season.
* Kelli Roehrig led MSU with 19 points and 11 rebounds for her fourth double-double of the season. Roehrig had five double-doubles in her first three seasons at MSU.
* Liz Shimek just missed having her third double-double of the season with 18 points and nine rebounds.
* MSU outrebounded Detroit 39-24. The Spartans have outrebounded eight of their nine opponents this season.
* MSU was 22-of-25 from the free throw line, including 6-of-6 in the final minute. For the season, the Spartans are 30-35 from the line in the final two minutes of regulation plus overtime in close games (margin in single digits).
* Kelli Roehrig moved up one spot to 12th place in MSU history in career points with 1,021. Lindsay Bowen moved up a notch to 21st and now has 950 career points.
