
MSU Women's Soccer Loses At Wisconsin, 1-0

MADISON, Wis. - The Michigan State women's soccer team dropped its fifth consecutive Big Ten game Friday, falling to Wisconsin, 1-0, at UW's McClimon Soccer Complex. With the loss, MSU falls to 8-7-1 (2-6-1 Big Ten) on the season, while UW improves to 10-4-1 (4-4-1 Big Ten).
The first half was scoreless, despite the Badgers holding a 10-6 advantage on shots. UW's Kara Kabellis scored the game-winning goal in the 47th minute off a corner kick assist by Amy Vermaulen.
Senior midfielder Adrienne Treado (Troy) recorded four shots to lead the Spartans while freshman forward Maureen Pawlak (Commerce Township) had three shots. Senior goalkeeper Erin Carlson (Portage) made four saves for MSU.
Michigan State outshot Wisconsin, 13-12, but the Badgers held a 5-3 advantage in corner kicks.
MSU concludes its road schedule for the regular season with a non-conference game against Oakland in Rochester, Mich., on Sunday, Oct. 17 at 1 p.m.
