Women's Soccer Suffers Second Loss Of Season

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. -- The Michigan State women's soccer team lost to Illinois, 1-0, in a conference match on Sunday (Sept. 21) in Champaign, Ill. With the loss, MSU dropped to 5-2 on the season as Illinois improved to 5-2-1 overall with the win.
Illinois' Paula Faherty scored the only goal of the game in the second half at 44:19 with a shot from 20 yards out. Illinois outshot the Spartans 19-9 and Fighting Illini goalkeeper Leisha Alicia finished the game with four saves.
Spartan Goalkeeper Stacy Heller (Sr., Madison, Wis.) finished the game with six saves.
MSU will return to action on Friday (Sept. 26) when the Spartans host Minnesota at 4 p.m. at Old College Field.
