Sarah Pepera Places Third In 3000 Steeplechase At NCAA Regionals

COLUMBUS, Ohio - Junior Sarah Pepera (Ortonville) placed third in the 3000-meter steeplechase to highlight the final day of competition for Michigan State at the 2003 NCAA Mideast Regional Outdoor Track and Field Championships.
Pepera finished in 10:26.06 to earn the third-place finish, trailing only Andrea Kremer of Miami (Ohio), who won the race in 10:16.16, and Marquette's Brianna Dahm, who placed second in 10:19.73.
Junior Sherita Williams (Tampa, Fla.) competed in the triple jump for Michigan State, finishing 14th with a leap of 40-9 3/4 (12.44m). Junior Sarah Adelaine (Harbor Springs) competed in two events for MSU, placing 22nd in the discuss with a throw of 138-09 (42.29m) and finishing 24th in the hammer with a toss of 166-09 (50.83m).
On the men's side, junior Steve Manz (West Branch) placed sixth in the shot put with a throw of 59-04 (18.08m) and freshman Brad Gebauer (Bad Axe) finished 15th in the pole vault with a leap of 16-1 1/4 (4.91m).
Selected Michigan State athletes will compete at the NCAA Championships June 11-14 in Sacramento, Calif.
