Steve Manz Wins Shot Put At Alex Wilson Invitational

SOUTH BEND, Ind. - Junior Steve Manz (West Branch) won the shot put at the Alex Wilson Invitational hosted by the University of Notre Dame Saturday. Manz's best throw of 59-6 3/4 was good enough to win the event, but did not improve on his school-record throw of 61-8 1/4 at last week's Big Ten Indoor Championships.
The only other Spartan competing on the men's side was freshman Brad Gebauer (Bad Axe), who tied for third in the pole vault. Gebauer cleared 16-4 3/4, but fell short of the NCAA provisional qualifying height.
Manz will hope to compete at the NCAA Indoor Championships next weekend in Fayetteville, Ark.
