Somerville, Krzyminski Compete At NCAA Indoor Track Championships

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - Senior Ann Somerville (Ironwood) and junior Jamie Krzyminski (Corunna) competed for Michigan State at Day One of the 2003 NCAA Indoor Track Championships hosted by the University of Arkansas.
Somerville ran in the prelims of the mile run, placing sixth in her heat with a time of 4:47.54. Somerville's time was 15th overall of the 20 runners competing in the two heats, and did not qualify her for tomorrow's final. Tiffany McWilliams of Mississippi State posted the top time of the day in 4:38.11. The tenth and final qualifier, Erica Sigmont of Arkansas, had a time of 4:44.36.
Krzyminski competed in the 5,000-meter run, placing 16th in 16:40.37, which was well shy of her qualifying time of 16:17.50. Sara Gorton, a junior from Colorado, won the event with a time of 15:39.25.
Somerville will get another chance Saturday when she competes in the 3,000-meter run at 7:25 p.m.
