Manz Wins Shot Put and Weight Throw At EMU Classic

YPSILANTI, Mich. - In its final tune-up prior to the Big Ten Championships in two weeks, the Michigan State men's track team competed in the EMU Classic Saturday (Feb. 15) in Ypsilanti.
Junior Steve Manz (Jr., West Branch) continued his dominance this season in the shot put and weight throw, winning each event. He threw a season-best 60-05 ? in the shot put and threw 54-08 ? in the weight throw.
Jon Wojcik (So., Wyandotte) took fourth in the mile with a time of 4:17.05. Andrew Alley (Calgary, Alta.) and Jeff Mulder (Jr., Haslett) finished sixth and seventh in the event with times of 4:21.13 and 4:23.91, respectively.
Brian Sherwood (Fr., Fowlerville) claimed another top-five finish for MSU, taking fifth in the high jump with a jump of 6-04.
Next up for the Spartans is the Big Ten Championships in Champaign, Ill., which take place March 1-2.
