Michigan State Coach Tom Izzo
"I didn't think they played very well and I didn't think we played very well. I think we helped them play poorly and I didn't think that was because we were aggressive. I think it was a poor start. We were 1-9 and then 29-54 from then on. We might go back to playing "war" upstairs (in the gym) before the horn starts. We've had some poor starts and it is no secret that a couple of our guys are not playing very well. That (Penn) is a good basketball team and I think we had to do some good things defensively. That is a really good basketball team, a very well coached team. They missed some shots that I think they have been getting. I thought we did a pretty good job on (Jeff) Schiffner."
On MSU's depth "I think our depth did help. I think we did wear them down a little bit. I think the caliber of people we had coming off the bench was a little better than what they had."
Penn Head Coach Fran Dunphy On play in second half "There was one stretch in the second half where I think we did some good things, and there was a point where we were down by nine and had a fast break opportunity. Schiffner had an open look for three and he missed it and they turned around and had Ager hit a three. That was a big point because it could have been a six-point game and instead it's a 12-point game. Michigan State made shots when they had to and that is the difference in the game."
On their offense "We didn't run our offense very well today. I think you can contribute that to us playing poorly and Michigan State forcing us to play poorly. They play a great pressure defense and it really took us out of our game. They are an excellent basketball team and we can only get better by playing a team like this."
