Women's Soccer Wins Final Regular-Season Game

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- The Michigan State women's soccer team defeated New Mexico, 2-0, in a non-conference match on Sunday afternoon (Nov. 2) in Colorado Springs, Colo. The Spartans improve on the season to 12-7-0 overall, while the Lobos fall to 2-11-4 overall.
In the first half, Michigan State's Tiffany Laskowski (Sr., Troy) scored the only two goals of the game with both goals assisted from Emma Harris (So., Portage) and Erin Konheim (So. West Bloomfield). The first goal was scored in the 23rd minute and the second goal was scored at 33:07.
The Spartans outshot the Lobos, 15-12, as Spartan goalkeeper Stacy Heller (Sr., Madison, Wis.) finished the game with four saves. Lobos???sup>TM goalkeeper Kristen Winters finished with seven saves.
MSU hits the road to compete in the 2003 Big Ten Championships hosted by the University of Wisconsin in Madison, Wis. No. 7 seed Michigan State takes on No. 2 seed Illinois in the first round of the Big Ten Tournament on Thursday (Nov. 6) at 11:30 am.
