Spartans Wrap Up Play At ITA Midwest Regional

KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The Michigan State women's tennis team ended their play at the ITA Midwest Regional Championships today as senior Caroline Lay (Brisbane, Australia) lost in the singles main draw round of 32.
In today's opening round, Lay defeated Ruth Barnes of Northwestern in three sets, 6-1, 6-7, 6-2. However, Lay then fell to Illinois' Cynthya Goulet 6-2, 6-1, in the round of 32.
Lay was the only one of four Spartans competing in the tournament to play in the singles main draw.
The tournament concludes the Spartans' fall season. Their first match of the spring season will have the Green and White head to head against Vanderbilt January 16.
